Our Story

In 2010 we purchased a parcel of land from my husband's grandma that has been part of the family farm since 1945. We were thrilled to now be the fourth generation of our family to own and farm this piece of land alongside our children, the fifth generation. My husband has always enjoyed farming it has been "in his blood" since he first started "driving" tractor with Grandpa. I can't say the same for myself. In fact I said that I would never marry a farmer. Never say never, it was the best thing that I ever did. I did love to help my green thumb grandparents with their flowers but never anticipated becoming a flower farmer.

In 2020 we were able to purchase an adjoining property with a home and made the move to the farm! In 2021 I decided to add flowers alongside our produce and pumpkins. My husband went to the shop and built me a darling flower cart to sell flowers by the stem. We planted hundreds of sunflowers and 30 varieties of dahlias. We had no idea how this was going to work going into it but it turned out to be a huge success and my addiction to dahlias began.

2022 began a building year for the flowers. We expanded the dahlias to one hundred, added gladiola, tulips and filler flowers for bouquets. We began being intentional in learning best practices for growing and storing dahlias. That fall we dug, labeled and packaged hundreds of dahlias to overwinter. Spring of 2023 we separated the dahlias and setting aside enough tubers to once again double our fields, we decided to sell what we had leftover. It was also time to name the flower farm Dolly Joy. the Dolly was in memory of a dear grandma who always called me Dolly. Joy was for my mother-in-law and our daughters favorite word "joy" and to also bring joy to those who receive the flowers.
